Photo Tip: Move In Close

by Sonya Murphy on September 9, 2009

Try moving in closer to the subject by using your optical or digital zoom lenses. (You can zoom in using software to crop out unwanted areas of a photo.) Why is a close up so effective? It is effective because it takes out the clutter in the image. The eye can focus on the main subject without all the distractions. This technique is especially effective for close-ups of peoples faces. Why? There is just something drawing about looking at peoples faces especially when they are smiling or reflecting on something. It is even more true on little children’s faces. So why not try some close-ups and use it on this week’s Sketch of the Week LO.
